Pierre Corneille Van Geel 1796-1838

Pierre Corneille Van Geel published his "Sertum Botanicum" in Brussels, in 1828. It consists of 600 hand-coloured plates. These were lithographed by de Burggraaff, after the drawings of G.Severyns. Most of the specimens illustrated were ornamental flowering plants which were recently introduced into Europe for cultivation. Several Australian species are beautifully depicted.
