George Edwards
George Edwards 1694-1773
An English naturalist and ornithologist, Edwards is known as "the father of British ornithology".
Between 1743 and 1751 he published four volumes of
A Natural History of Uncommon Birds and three supplementary
volumes were issued in 1758, 1760 and 1764, with the title
Gleanings of Natural History. The two works contain
engravings and descriptions of more than 600 subjects in natural history, not before described or delineated. (Ref. Wikipedia)
