There were many early pictorial representations of Australian fauna and flora which appeared in different publications as part of the general upsurge of interest in natural history during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Usually published individually, they do not constitute a single, consistent vision of the subject as, for instance, do John Gould's great works, The Mammals of Australia and The Birds of Australia. However, they offer a rich variety of approaches, often imbued with great charm, to the challenges of how to perceive Australia's unique animals and plants. They are both interesting in their own right and very collectable. While Full Circle specialises in Australiana, you will find some prints of plants and animals from other parts of the world.
